Yes, we do! We collect the children under 8 years of age  directly from their classrooms, inside the school, just before the doors open . For children over  8 years  old we have a dedicated High Five meeting place (by the first aid and lost property bench) where we all gather together before beginning our short walk over to the High Five Club room at the Whiteley Community Centre.

To ensure everyone stays safe and visible, children under the age of eight wear high-visibility vests for the journey. We also make sure the children are paired up with a friend so they can enjoy a lovely chat with one another along the way. 

To make the walk even easier for the little ones, our team has a special “bag cart” where all the children’s heavy bags and water bottles are tucked away, leaving them free to enjoy the fresh air and catch up with their friends!

Yes, if you are on certain benefits, you can get a significant portion of your childcare costs covered—often much more than the 20% saved through standard vouchers.

The main way this works is through Universal Credit, but there are other options depending on your situation:

1. Universal Credit (The 85% Rule)

If you (and your partner, if you have one) are working—no matter how many hours—you can claim back up to 85% of your childcare costs.

• Monthly Limits: You can claim back up to £1,014.63 for one child or £1,739.37 for two or more children per month.

• Upfront Help: If you are starting a new job or increasing your hours, you can sometimes get help with the first month’s payment upfront through the “Flexible Support Fund” so you aren’t out of pocket.

If you are a full-time student and have a limited income or receive certain benefits, you may be eligible for a ‘Childcare Grant for students ‘ . This can also cover up to 85% of your costs and does not have to be paid back.

Important Note: To use all childcare vouchers/ funding , you must use an Ofsted  registered provider (like High Five After School Club). 

Yes, we certainly do! We accept all forms of childcare vouchers, whether they are provided through the government or via independent childcare voucher companies.

Most of our parents choose to pay this way, as using vouchers will  save you up to 20% discount on your childcare costs. It is a fantastic way to make your bookings more affordable while ensuring your child enjoys their time at the club.

When parents pay through Tax-Free Childcare (the current government scheme), they essentially receive a 20% discount on their childcare costs.

Here is how the savings work in practice:

• The “20% Off” Rule: For every £8 you pay into your online childcare account, the government adds a £2 top-up. This means the government covers 20% of your total bill.

• Annual Savings: You can receive up to £2,000 per child, per year in government top-ups (or up to £4,000 if your child has a disability).

Snack Time at High Five! To keep those energy levels up after a busy school day, we invite children to bring a little snack in their book bag to keep them going until tea. If you feel your child would prefer a “high tea” at 4:00 PM, they are also very welcome to bring a small packed tea, for snack time.
